Problem

EOLO is looking to be the first internet services provider to provide 5G ultra-broadband speeds on a fixed wireless network in Italy. They have purchased the rights for the 224 MHz at the 28 GHz spectrum band on a national scale. With this, they plan to expand it’s coverage and subscriber base in suburban and rural areas that traditionally did not have fiber or xDSL and are impacted by the digital divide. On the broader scale, EOLO is dedicated to making Italy more competitive in Europe by improving its current ranking related to economic and digital development via modern infrastructure upgrades and knowledge.

Solution

Intracom Telecom’s WiBAS™-Connect PtMP was the go-to solution for EOLO as it meets all the technical criteria of their long-term goals. The PtMP solution provides a way for EOLO to rapidly deploy wireless networks across Italy. The WiBAS™-Connect radios are the most compact and lightweight microwave terminal radio, which made them have a low power consumption with zero-footprint installations. This cost-effective and easy to access implementation of 100Mbps internet coverage is just the first step, and EOLO hopes to complete the rollout within 5 years.
